Tom: My research suggests mt121 will go down to 120-130 when used in pairs. Which makes sense because mt122 crossover is from 120hz and at that lower freq the horn isn't really directional. So two mt121's side by side is an virtually an mt122 with crossover of 120-130hz.
Not sure about crossovers yet, with this combo there should be plenty of room to play around. I'm really looking forward to tuning it once it's all built! @Smoore, Hey mate, love your boxes, saw the picks of them in Tom's thread . Re having no kicks, just invaders; well yeah i suppose I could but the kicks put the height in the stack which is pretty important. Also, toastyghost said in the invader thread that they're subs and need kick, I respect his opinion. Plus i just love the idea of having kicks ![]() Originally I was going to go with 4 es18 + 2 mt122 each side but sks01 gave some good advice suggesting this was a whole lot of kick. Just the way he put it you could tell it was honest advice. He suggested that 2 es18 & 2 mt122 per side, with bass underneath was "pretty nice". . Hence the reason for the invaders coming into the equation. The only other mod I've made to the advised combination is starting off with mt121's. This came about after reading the stuff about 2 mt121's cross well 120-130hz and the $ saved here are very welcome. Then if i need too or want I can always build another 12 inch section later on. This would go underneath the mt121 and add some nice height to the stack. |

I used to run mt122's down to 120 no problem, and run my invaders up to 120hz to meet our stasys 3's. having played around with that setup a bit I still prefer the invader/usb/s3 combo, but i would cross the usb's or other kick cabs much lower than 180hz, normally around 130hz for stasys 3's or mt121's.

edit: we have some reverse loaded with fane 15-600's as sub and normally loaded 15-400's as kicks Edited by brooa - 05 June 2012 at 1:38pm |
