Yeah you did post. I think I'm between tree and bark here... Side panels are vibrating and colouring the sound without bracing in the mouth. I shall make holes in the braces, do you think it is enough?

Mr FlipC, would you please be so kind and point out for me what pages in DIYAudio thread (72pages....) contain the thing? Thank You.

Andy

Sorry I don't have exact pages marked.
ScreamerUSA is the designer of the Furybox and that thread. He is the one who documented the effects of a brace within the mouth of a TH. That is negatively effected the upper bandwidth.
But if I recall correctly it was around 200 Hz area.  Least for his.
But if you look at the original THs from Danley
only 2 of his designs have a brace in the mouth. And they seem to be out of necessity due to layout.  BUT all the single driver units do not have them. Including the TH118.

I shall pay attention to detail as you suggest. I'm currently on p.31 on that thread on DIYAudio.

Cheers, Andy

Take out your hole saw and make cheese of it. Rounding over the edges will give a nice finish as well. Great looking build by the way.
Best regards,
Teun.

Hole saw has been rotating in my mind for a while. You can clearly see the outcome.

What shall be the colour when its time to paint is the next question. Hire friendly black or....couldn't help myself not to think pink Miss PiggysTongue

Miss piggy early drawings. Sorry about the quality and missing throat detail drawing.

Outer dimensions HWD 1238 x 636 x 1220, with skids on the bottom. Inner width 600mm. material thickness 18mm exept thicker panels 27mm.

Check the measures personally if you wanna to build 'em. I built 3more with these drawings and some internal panels needed corrective cuts. They were slightly off being too large so careful dry fitting or re-drawing still needed. (nobody wants to admit being a sloppy chippy eh?)

Pencil markings are taken from prototype build session.
-connectors have been since lowered downwards to mount rear handle.
-low-corner reflector plate (540x600mm) is removed for more 30Hz-45Hz.

room for improvement
-two first near 90 degree angles, their outer radius could be rounded with fiberglass.
-void psyko is 2dB more on 30 Hz and 2/3 of the size of piggy.

Driver used Void V18-1000. 4pcs driven with comfort of Crest 9001. I think I'll need the third pair of subs to fully exploit the crest.

Minimum processing 27Hz/24But HP.
Sensitivity peaks around 150Hz and current Lowpass without honking is 116Hz/24But or 24LR, with -15dB, Q=0,55, 203Hz EQ used for shaping general response and taking away 203Hz ringing.

After the lecture, the plans

Throat details. Position of driver hole and driver rebate (10mm deep).
Two pieces, 400mm x 70mm of 27mm ply, are for compression chamber sides.

uploads/3564/Scan3.pdf

Displacement plug constructed of two round (dia 340mm) disks of 27mm ply.

Cabinet (upside down) side open with current bracing and removed lower reflector. Instead the reflector there are 2 triangles supporting lower back corner.

Hi andy,
Nice to see you're still busy with the piglets.

I'm fully satisfied by my small versions!
I also tried to remove the bottom corner reflector and indeed, it added a little low frequency extenstion.
i currently have 4, and just gotten 30 sheets of ply for the next 12 to make a total of 16.
Will keep you updated with the progress.

Also, i played around with the high pass, and found that there is a significant differnece in heat stored in the magnet if the highpass is altered by even a few hz. A rather low highpass seems to reduce the heat just enough by adding cone excursion. i found my optimum to be 33Hz (which makes sense since you're tuning frequency is a tad lower) 24db butterworth for lowest temperature vs cone excursion.

Hi

Well maybe i'm bit too harsh to meself. The piggy sounds good, it goes low enough but the size is a bit too DIY. Maybe the lower amount of cash compared to commercial product justifies it for me. +possibility to load 21" driver in future, as I grow rich, and "they" invent the one with suitable parameters....

Are you going to offer your rig to a festival? Or perhaps for brutal disco experience? I definitely could not have enough use to justify 16pcs/ I'm doing bit smaller parties.

How did you measure the temp difference. By hand or by meter? Did you keep record of drive voltage/wattage?
About suitable subsonic filter, the controlled but high excursion prevents the voice coil end burns.

Well for the moment 4 of them will be used for medium venues.... although work is very low atm, and 8 in the future for bigger venues. The other 8 are for a friend so we'll have 16 together when a really big venue appears.
I ran 4 piggy's with the same program signal fed into the same amps (dsp controlled amps) and varied the highpass filter on the 4 with 2hz steps ranging from 30 to 36Hz (it drops off at around 38hz in singles) and found the optimum to be between 32 and 34 without real overexcursion (this was done by the eye however, just by tracking the white letters on the cone) . i just taped a thermometer to the magnet, very scientificLOL but it did the trick.

Thinking about cnc routering the side panels for the next 12 cabs, might be economical in the time savings it will give me when constructing the cabs.

Curious what parameters he's looking for?
I was playing around with the rcf lf21n551 some time ago, good price and specs like a BL of 39!

Yet there seems to be quite some room for improvement, If the front loaded psycho bin is DEEPER that a tapped horn, well then there's no point in doing a tapped horn!
I guess the psycho only plays deeper in groups of 4+, not alone vs miss piggy, would be disastrous:-)
