With yet another post regarding 21" Scoops, it set me thinking. Is there any valid point in having a 21" mini Scoop. For instance, does a 21" mini play better than a full size 18"Scoop. Some of the 21" minis aren't that small. I really only consider performance, as apposed to weight and size. What does the panel think?

21" Mini will only out play decent 18" Full scoop, if it is powered properly.
Already have people trying to power 18" scoops with amps rated at 1khz, assuming that rating, is what amp will do 32-100hz, imagine the mess if they try to power 2x 21" per channel with some of those gay amps, that are upto 45% down on power rating, at those sub freqs. I think moving from 18s to 21s it only makes sense if you use a ''very efficient'' box for your own type of music. Which should make it worthwhile over the 18s. Reason I am using those mini 21s is that I got them cheap and still have not decided which is the best 21" scoop as yet..

Also for smaller gigs, 1x guy can just about move 2x 18" minis off a transit van, with tops on sticks.
1x Guy moving 2x 21" minis off a transit, not advisable.... |

So it's not possible to build a 21 in the some space as a full 18 and out play it ????? |

Still can't see any reason for using 21" especially indoors when I've hear 18s shaking belly bottoms and bringing down lights, etc; 21s are big and ugly as hell anyways , and just an extension of one's d*@k.

Indeed. Well, picking through the insults and other derogatory statements made in this and other threads, I would say a 21" mini is of benefit IF it reduces the amount of cabs used or increases SPL and Low extension.
But people may not use them even then as they are ugly and smelly . |
