Some time ago I sketched slot loaded push & pull design for two BMS 12S330/12N630. Around 70-75 litres tuned to 38hz, at least should be. Slot is just big enough to load those drivers with some 9mm between them when loading. Structure is pretty much self bracing with driver baffles and ports, extra bracing should not create two different chambers. Feel free to try if you're brave enough. Excursion hits 10mm with 1000 watts at 50hz
![]() ![]() predicted 2pi / 2v / 4ohm without slight gain/filter in upper bass that slot may cause ![]() http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9726318/212pp/212pp.skp Edited by pfly - 12 August 2011 at 5:58pm |

What's the calculated f3? Looks about 38Hz from the graph?

Am I right in saying these are the "extended/doubled" 12" Hybrid Horn plans?
If so, you've made me a very happy man indeed. Many thanks Pfly! Edited by loonie - 01 September 2011 at 5:47am |

Sketchup is free software, anyone who wants to try out this design can download it and measure plans from the .skp
I am not sure if I ever release 2x12" hybrid design. I have moved on from there. Concept seems to be working nicely. I am working on 2x15" version that shares many aspects with Martin 215 mk3 and F2B, on pure coincidence looks pretty much like Martin MLX and is almost exactly the same size as Arcline X. I tell you, without space age materials of Arcline X it is amazingly tight fit to cram horns, ported chambers and 2x15" drivers into that space. |

Another thing: would anyone be interested in Psycho bin sized Front Loaded Horn meant for usual suspects, PD.1850 and V18-1000 with 230cm horn path and Martinesque letterbox -throat?

"Continues to wait patiently"
If you liked the performance graph for the posted design, why not build the design?
It will go lower than a similar sized horn, and have less distortion.

Here it goes...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() PD.1850 0,5pi / 1,41v and 2pi / 2,83v Dimensions are 122x84x63,6cm Nice smooth folding and expansion. Models around the same as Nineleave's Invader but in reality it has more horn length and to my eyes perhaps nicer expansion. Different character it will definitely have. I am also sucker for Martin's letterbox throat because it creates definitive throat such as compression drivers and mid horns have and it almost minimizes the size of compression chamber, it really makes horn act as a horn in most classic way. Problem is it either need side access panels like LAB and Punisher or then something like I drew in that model and what Mykey did in one of his designs. |
