I'm just curious would 2x 1850 horns keep up with say 4 hogs?
maybe crossing from the hogs at 70hz and to the mids at 160 ish? |

Its a possibility, two 1850 horns do sound pretty kicky to me as they wont get as low as a stack of four. Its not most peoples first choice as an upper bass cab though.
Cabs like HD15's or ES18-BPH are kickier, smaller, have higher frequency extension & cheaper to load. Take a good look around the forum & see what upper bass cabs people are using above subs/ scoops.

1850s do have nice kick.
But aren't horn and scoop combinations not really recommended? You would have some wierd phase issues with the output from the front and back of the driver of the scoop and then the delay of the horn etc etc? |

As long as the scoops & horns are covering different frequency bands & the delay is correct it will be fine. Its when people try & use different bass cabs in the same band that you end up with phase issues.
so scoops 35-70hz & horns 70-160hz.

the delay would be pretty huge though!
i'd sell the 1850's and build some usb/es18's |

..... i have two pd 186, i'd like to build 2 x 186 horns as kick binz to go above 4 scoop (pd 1850 loaded), no matter for the size, i just ask how it will sound, if someone have listened before, from 90 to 180 hz.
- scoop: 30 - 90 hz - 186 horn: 90 - 180 - mt 130: 180 -1khz Use for reggae and dubs from '70 to 2013. Thanks in advice for any opinion will come! |

Aren't the 1850's for 18's? Did you down scale the cab for a 15? or just drop a 15 in the full size cab? |

We learn something every day, and lots of times it’s that what we learned the day before was wrong.

If you would cross the 1850s too high, there would be danger of burning the voice coils quickly from lack of excursion = lack of cooling.
