:o Better than what I was expecting for such a small speaker!
I defo think a single 8 would be good enough then :) Planning on mating it up with either a cubo 12 or a Tham12, keep changing my mind between the two but I'm sure i'll be happy with either tbh

i'v got a tham12. Deffo go for the tham12. The cubo drops off at 50 quite sharply i believe. And rhe tham plays higher and has a more "hifi" sound. |

I believe thats one of the recommended drivers yes. I use the PD 12SB30..
even at just 400w of handling it does REALLY well. Its a loud box so you will do well with it. Im getting another pair of MTH30s VERY soon and loading them with the PD's too. |

I have 4 tham-12s and use them with a couple of 10" + 1",
the tham's are loaded with the recommended Beyma 12LX60 drivers and like mini-mad
has said, they are very "hiFi" sounding. Until last week I only had one pair of
the thams loaded so I've yet to hear what 4 sound like with the 2 tops when
used in anger!! The tops are each loaded with a Fane Sovereign 10-300 and a Beyme CD10fe on a Celestion H1-7050 horn, these are crossed over @3K and the horn has a L-Pad to bring the level down that's been fitted with an LC circuit to give the CD10fe/Horn a little HF boost to add sparkle. I will be building a second set of the tops when funds allow, I've already have the Fanes , crossovers, grills from Markie, paint, connectors and horns, so its just the ply and CD10fe's to get. A pair of the Tham12s is quite a good match for my tops and as there is very little difference in the sensitivity between the Sovereign 10-300 and 8-225 I think they'd also be a good match for your tops. I normally cross over from the tham-12s to the tops at around the 125Hz mark. |

This is the driver that I have in my ones and that martinsson designed the THAM12 for, and for the size of the cab they are very good. |

Sorry I am a Newbie... but this thread caught my eye.
I am lucky enough to have 2 x 8" Celestion
Speakers on hand. http://celestion.com/product/75tr082009d/ - http://celestion.com/product/75/ntr082009d/ I would love to make a cabinet to suit them, wired to 4 Ohm, obviously as small and light as possible without losing sound value. I have been searching high and low to try to get some help with dimensions. I have the expertise to do the actual carpentry, once I know what needs doing. To Port or not to Port is another question, and if Port is the answer then whether round ports (width and depth) or a low vent is the answer. If possible - could you point me in a direction I
might find info on dimensions? I intend to use them primarily for Bass Guitar - I also have a 15" Cab for bottom end, Thanks in advance |
