Is this what you would normally do?
Blue is 1x 12" deltalite
green is 2x 10" delta 10

It appears that the 2x10 will give me more SPL, but are there any advantages/disadvantages to either of these setups? Which would you think would sound "better" at medium volumes, a 10 or a 12 setup.

thanks
Author: herke
Subject: 67820
Posted: 10 June 2012 at 11:06am

Hi guys,

I am wanting to build a set of mid tops from scratch to go above my cubo 15s which im building at the moment.

The cubos are meant to sound good up to about 120hz so need some mids to meet these.

These are going to be used for the odd party in a VERY small room (6m square) and also for just having in my lounge on low ish volumes.

What would be best - 2x10" drivers or 1x12" driver. It would probably be a choice between 2 budget 10 drivers or a better 12" driver.
probably either 2x eminence delta 10, or the 12" eminence deltalite 2512 (neo).
So ideally £120 on the drivers per speaker.
I was thinking about using the BMS 4524/8 compression drivers on them

I cant reallly see any of the tops or the subs being near full volume due to the room size.

Also, What role does cab tuning play in mid/tops? What should I be aiming for? When i put the deltalite driver details in winisd its suggesting a 131 litre box at 38hz which is a huge box!

Whereas the delta 10 is coming out at only needing a 10litre box and tuned to 80hz...
I know these are just a starting point but thats a massive difference.

Can someone point me in the right direction?
thanks
neil
