i have one of these with the exact same issue. iv decided to power mine with a separate amp. these things seemed to be going bang by the dozen ! i thought it would probz only just go bang again . the woofer in these is quite nice, fairly substantial . sounds nice too, starts to loose it a bit when pushed though. not sure if its the ports or the woofer.

good to get some feedback, hoping this sounds alright used alongside Alesis M1 active Mk2 5point surround system. Will give it a go fixing, dont think its too serious, as signal reachs the cone still. Hoping its just a few small resisters/capacitors then alls gud.

had one of these amp in for repair,,,had to mod it via bolting it's dropper resistor for the low voltage rails to the heatsink plus the relay buzzed due to the 47uf 63v cap going dead short.. check the schematic on line there's a guy who's carried out so many mods on this amp...

it's just bad that so many things have to be done just to keep it alive!

Start by scraping off all that brown sonybond glue. It is conductive.
