Please do tell me if you don't want this here but im guessing you guys on this part of the forum are the best to ask.
Its not 12v so I understand if you're not interested!
Ive got a little honda suitcase gennie sat in the shed not being used http://www.honda-ex650.co.uk/about.html and I want to put a rig together that will run of it. Just for cheeky little gatherings with my campervan crew. What do you reckon I could run off this? It doesn't have to be huge just wandering what you would do?
Any advice will be greatly recieved. Cheers, Tim

124 views and no comments tad harsh if it was me in your situation ( campervan crew) id just get a double 12" sub box, plus a box with two 6x9 in and two speakers from the front door panels, back a nice little box to house it with a car head unit,
run the door speakers and 6x9's of the head unit and the sub of and amp, wire it up like it was going in your car and run that off your genny rather then a car battery,
ive done this and still have it at home, il try get some pics for you.
i ran mine of a battery tho but it still lasted the whole night while we were camping.
i got two juice 12" subs with box and amp of amazon think it came to about £80 for the lot, then found a head unit in the shed and the wiring harness i got from maplins for £25
im not a campervan pro but you could even make space under the rear seats depending how you have it set out for it all to hide away in while not in use??

We used to have a generator of the same type back when we were younger. Used to take 2 Ohm 12" boxs a 1200W amp and some 1210's up the woods and had endless amounts of fun with it! Its not for the amount of power the equipment actually uses. Just dont start putting lights etc on it just use it for sound and buy a cheap old PA system.
Have fun :) |

MessTek are you recommending using the 12v out on that genny?
I know nothing about them myself but from a quick glance at the specs it looks like only around 96w is available at the 12v output (12v * 8.3a?) whereas the full power AC output is 450w. I guess its fundamentally an AC device with an auxiliary 12v output? To disco tim. I suppose your best bet is just to get or build a pair of decent loud efficient full rangers and see which mains stereo amps you can get away with off that genny. Have you got a few you can try? just leave yourself a little room for decks/laptop etc? Its probably not worth going down the active crossovers/separate subs/mids/highs route for a system on that scale as you'll lose more in idle power draw than you could hope to gain in efficiency. |

I would get a couple of cheap 220v active PA speakers.
Like 12" + 1" plastic speakers. Easy to move and make some sound for the buck. |
