Want to hear if crews have had amps fail/blow/go faulty/thermal, at 4 ohm stereo/2ohm stereo, and if they got them fixed, and where.

PL 9.0 is a man's Amp, problems arise when boys have ago....
90mm2 mains feeder, proper distro, no worries... Girls doing gig's in scout halls need not apply... Still waiting to hear any amp that can be deemed a contender to the PL 9.0 throne... You want to drop heavy and deep, these babies Eat Powersoft/FFa for breakfast. Given the above have already consumed the other contenders, not mention of lab Grup in this thread (now pronounced Behringer BTW)

Problem is, not all Reggae Soundsystem gigs, have 3x phase supply, or allow fr*gging with junction box. Have personally seen PL9s thermal/clip on 1x channel, with only 2x 1850s per channel. If you blow 1x channel of PL9 in UK, who's gonna fix it? |

Never seen a channel blow....
I haven't seen, but I have heard of a few PSUs going... They are really a great amp, but in the true sense of a "sound System" IE comumity, love of the sound, not exactly massively commercially/financially driven I think they are gamble. You end up with an Amp that can make your boxes sing, but you may have to use another on if you can't get the right supply, so in real terms, not a good bet unless you only gig in venues that have 63A plus supplies... My comment was a bit tongue in cheek, but they are not light by any stretch and for the little bit more ball you get than a powersoft, the Powersoft is a smarter move in many ways... Much as I love them, I don't have one because I do too many gigs in 32A land... Edited by shagnasty - 15 November 2015 at 3:19am |
