True...i like the tbx. The tbw100s seem to be very similar but with more power handling. Only problem is that they are about 1.5in too deep to fit in my cabinets. also b&c have come out with a different tbx100 thats handles 1200watts aes whereas the old model is 1000watts aes.

There is more to which driver is good in scoops than just power handling.

Is sometimes good to check forum threads, than to post questions, that were answered previously.

Here's quick way to choose decent "ferrite" scoop driver for scoop.

Ignore manufacturer's sensitivity figure, only consider reference efficiency, expressed as figure between 1.8 - 4.0.

Forget all Eminence, Paudio, Cerwin Vega, Peavey drivers
Forget all drivers where Xmax < 7mm
Forget all drivers with VC diam < 4"
Forget all drivers where ref efficiency (no) < 1.8
Forget all drivers with BL < 24 (Except PD186), or  Qes > 0.35, or Qts > 0.35, or Vas > 360, or Fs > 35hz

Separate drivers into 2x groups,
BL, qts, Vas,  similar to PD1850, or similar to Void V18-1200.

Apply the above rules to the thiele/small parms, and ignore the glossy sales drivel. Wink

Levyte i did read that thread a few days ago after i saw b&c came with the tbw100, yet i was asking about a comparison between tbx & tbw in supers specifically. Ive read almost every scoop topic for the past 2 years as they are written. Thanks for responding and letting us in on some of the knowledge u possess.

My previous comments  suggest the 18tbw100 wouldn't be all that special in scoops. And cringe to think what the price would be.

For small chamber scoops, try to locate drivers which have Qes/Qts/Vas/BL/Xmax similiar to PD1850, V18-1000, Fane 18XB, PD186, B&C 18TBX100.

For medium/larger chamber,  look for drivers similar to PD1851, Void V18-1200, Fane 1000, Fane 1500.

Zahir, I will find out the price of the voids (shipped) by the end of the week. I also stumbled on a source for PD drivers in Jersey. Expensive as sh1t though. They went from approx $500 usd (in the uk) to about 7-800$ in Jersey. I think I can pay someone to row some voids across the pond for less than that. I'll keep u posted.

Just as a matter of interest, especially to our UK users. The new 18 from B and C will not be sold in the UK at this time. The info states that it's for OEM customers only and looks like you would have to buy the Powersoft unit to go with it. However, I have it from the main man that it won't happen here, but I guess nothing is written in stone so who knows, maybe in the future.
