Got a strange one, xb not working, checked connections had open circuit on vc. No rubbing though. So i softened the glues and gently removed the cone to reveal a clean vc, no burns, no signs on the first windings either.
Further investigation revealed one wire between the two spiders leading up the vc
had burnt. In fact fused is a better description.
What sort of instantaneous power surge would do that?

it was conected to one channel of a vz5002 with a pd186 in parallel which has no damage.

Ps, no sign of any mechanical damage such as bottoming out etc

Just a hire out in the end and dropped some tunes on the guys decks.
In no way thinking they over did it or anything,
the management were being crap about bass levels anyway.
Nice space, but impossible to run a real session.
Very odd fault tho. Im gonna try stitching a bit of wire to the coil and threading it through the spiders. Seem a shame to throw away an otherwise decent assembly.
