Sorry for posting this twice, but the general forum gets turned over too quick.

I use B&C comps at the moment, but for low budget builds and for others out there it would be nice to know people's experience with the Series 2 BMD740/750 drivers. They are new so there maybe no feedback on these for awhile.

I am a novice having only used 3 models ever DE950TN, DE45 & DE10 so I get most of my knowledge from reading.

Thanks

I use BM-D750II

I am very happy with it , it's way more linear than the last version and also it has ferofluid

"sound of this driver is very close to that of WN-D72, which so far is a standard of fidelity to me in class 2 drivers "

Thanks Mircea. So it is one of p.audio's best especially since WN is discontinued. Also what is meant by "class 2 drivers"? What is class one - Beyma, 18Sound, B&C?

P-Audio isn't such a great deal in UK anymore, probably due to fewer agents, and rising price of replacement parts.

Are you sure, even compared to Beyma and B&C ?

Maybe the translation is incorrect but the meaning is true. These new P.Audio are still class 2 drivers behind Beyma (IMHO number one as CP755Nd/Al and CP850Nd are the king of their categories), behind B&C (DE500 is my favorite 1.7" VC HF driver), behind Fane (CD150 is sweet and CD130 is the best 1.3" VC driver in the market) and behind basically any other European brand.

When P.Audio will work on consistency (I get my Beymas at +/-1.5dB when P.Audio cannot keep in +/-4dB), distortion (they still not figured out how to remove the harshness at high spl between 3 and 7kHz) and reliability, they will always stay in second league.

On the bright side, P.Audio is by far the best Asian HF driver supplier. They have a nice positioning between the top class European stuff and rubb*sh Chinese.

Anyone else tried these series II BM-D750's (2'') or BM-D740's (1.4'') yet ?

Need to replace a Beyma CP-600Ti & was wondering if these BM-D's could match it! Soundwise.

Brand new diaphrams for these Beymas are £80+ so adding a few more quid could get these!

@112db it'll be loud enough! just so long as they sound good & if they'll play higher than the series one! If not maybe will have to try the 740's.

I've only tried out the P.Audio 1" models but they seem to represent excellent value for money.  As mentioned before, they can't match the high end European brands for refinement sound-wise but are by no means bad sounding drivers.  I would expect the 1.4" and 2" version to be similar.
