4*12 low tuned reflex and a 1.4" in a "coax" convex reflex, pricey but crisp as some home made chips.

i have been having these very thoughts recently
the question is though, seperate kicks to midtops - keep midtops nice n small, and have nice decent size kicks to get proper low end extension and thus a nice low xover point - i.e. 70-80hz. or all in one midtops with horn 15" - small size - does 90hz or all in one midtops with the bigger horn 15" crazy big size like the ASS fr3 - does 70-80 no probs, prob even lower Edited by Saul - 31 July 2010 at 4:00pm |

Just about anything, over the last year or so of hearing things other than roots rigs I'm so frustrated every time i hear that CLANG of a high hat on piezos as the the original question, I'm still unconvinced by reflex above scoops I know many sounds do it I just like having the ability so make people have a minor coronary with the thump of a kick drum with a steppas track. Edit: I you've got martin 115's pd 1550 is by far the most promising driver I've looked at for that kind of loading other than a beyma 15g40 iirc (its been a while since i modeled it and i'm somewhat hung over) they model similarly though they are quite different drivers the 1550 will be quite a hard sound but probably seem louder and with only 2 that might be a necessary characteristic the beyma will be smoother and more hifi. Martins need stiff coned drivers. Normally you be crossing them at 160-200 Hz, possible 220-250hz with eq - but unlikely. So your mid will have to start there, so maybe 12" mids for you. 2" comp, banks of bullets. Kill everyone.

I wasnt aware of this thread! (im the brother)
we now despite the wize suggestions from you guys we were always getting the martin 115's (as it was a pre-aranged deal with a friend) Although HD's would have been nice, and yes the 115's are hugee, thats what weve got. Now the scoops (mr dubs) hopefully will be loaded with pd1850's (im still looking by the way) and the martins with eminence delta 15lfs (bad idea?)
So heres the dilema. what do you guys reccomend for mid/tops?
