Hey All (If anyone is still active here ;)),
After years of sterling service one of our X1's seems to have killed it's p-audio c18 650el mk1's. I'm driving 4 of them through a dbx (30 - 80hz) and recently replaced our old Calsbro 300o with a Proline 3000. On it's 2nd outing one of the X1's started farting, although on closer inspection there was no obvious damage to the cone so we are having it checked but i think we may have f***ed the coil as it turns out the Proline is quite considerably more powerful than the Carlsbro ... So to my question ... P_Audio have seen fit to totally 'upgrade' their range and in so doing have rendered the MK2 650el useless in a bandpass box :-( - talking to the guys at Blue Aran they have suggested the RCF LF18G401 as a good replacement. So could I replace the p-audios in two of the X1's with two G401's and keep the other two loaded with the original 650el's (forgetting the slight difference in dimensions and hole centres for now)? Or am i totally screwed? Got an outing for the rig coming up on August 9th so am really keen to get something sorted - ANY help / advice from you guys would be blooming marvellous Cheers Ears, Nige

Ideally you'd run all the same drivers on the same passband. |

Thanks of the fast reply all bass .
Looks like I might be pretty screwed then as I don't have the cash to replace all 4 drivers at the same time right now. Oh if only I had the money to get 4 V18's ... |

Just mark your cabs and run them on the same channel. You'll be OK.

But why would you go for the RCF if you want to upgrade to Void?

Indeed - that'll teach me to post from my phone and not check what the autocorrect had done to my inaccurate typing - recently been chatting about voids on another forum ... RCFs are what I'm going for

Not that it helps much, but years ago when a few people got together from this forum and tested some X1s, HDs, and custom folded horns the first and rapid casualty of the day was a C18. They don't like being given welly in an X1 it seems. Cone didn't tear but I think it more or less all ripped apart.
Personally I would save my pennies and get the Voids or 1850s. Not only can they take the abuse their resale factor is much higher than other brands. No idea about RCFs unfortunately. Maybe buy one and give it a good kicking before you decide to sink cash into 4? |

i've only ever used voids in my X1s.. but i've been using them for 7 years now nearly, and they're just great. big 18" drivers are expensive but the v18-1000 is really good value. just do it. 2 at a time if you have to. they'll be done forever then.

The smile they'll give you when you run them up with a bit of juice will be worth it! Before the neighbours start shouting anyway.
