I am new to building speakers and sound business.

I am currently building some g subs, from the plans on here.

Is it essential that I use the recommended drivers?

What would happen if I used different drivers?

Not an easy question to answer as it depends how different the drivers are from the ones that are recommended.

Ok, so I don't want to be spending ridiculous amounts on my first build, so what drivers would be adequate for the g subs at a reasonable price?

Have a look at the thomann 18-500 drivers... a pair will be cheap and if some kind person would retune the g-sub for the fs of the 18-50 for the community we would all be greatful and have a budget goto answer for people needing a 'quick fix' for an upcoming party in need of a little more bottom end.
If it sounds like a gorilla is trying to escape, turn it down.

P Audios e18-600s seem very good drivers for the cash, I've got four and have been very impressed so far.
