Hi would like the help of forum members I obtained 6 Ultrasonic folded horn bins sometime ago , after giving them a ring they told me they were built to the CV SL36 design , I read on the web of someone who found that by removing the front panel on the sl36 cabs they played noticably lower so I would like to make up some ported front panels , the drivers they will be loaded with will be the Beyma g480 which sound very good in the cabs but Im willing to sacrifice some efficiency for depth , so is there anyone willing to calculate  the port sizes needed for the panel , will post plans of cab .
Thanks

FS: 26 Hz

QMS: 6.05

the sl36 does have a large chamber. a lower compression ratio than the norm,   and the original drivers used in them are like a reflex/horn hybrid driver which on paper would be better suited to reflex.  I wouldnt be surprised if some interesting results could be had from tuning the chamber.  though a group of 4 standard units should play low enough for most applications.

try and pd186 in there, or a driver with qts of around 0.30.  you might not need to tune for deeper sound.
REFLEX ALL THE WAY.... (however, im playing with horns again...) That ok Mister Valiant? :)

I know Big G said he was hitting 40hz with his PD186 loaded cabs so thinking that that may be improved on by porting front access panel even having interchangeable ported panels depending on which speaker was to be used allowing you to retain original panel, food for thought , now need someone to do the calculations please,

iv just got another 2 of these from quartermass making 4 in total, iv already loaded the first2 with voids and was planning on doing the same to these 2, i dont fully understand the technical side of it but obviously want the best results as does goodgroove, iv toyed with the idea of porting the front panel but thought it kind of defeats the object and would require more knowlage and understanding than i have, would i achieve the full potential of that enclosure from having 4 stacked with horn mouths together loaded with voids or would the 186's go lower with a higher spl?

The way I see it regardless of whatever speaker you put in you can have the best of both worlds  as by having an interchangeable ported front panels you can always put the original panel back in.

that was the same train of thought as me, making the panel wouldnt be too dificult but i wouldnt know where to start with calculating the port size or length, would be kindof like a bandpass enclosure i suppose??

they sound pretty good as a pair, much louder than the original driver and a lot more weight behind it, but i really want to try the 4 together to be able to give a proper opinion, iv had problems with one of the bins too, one was trying to blow itself apart untill i srewed it back together and the rear plastic input panel rattles like mad when turned up loud causing a nasty distortion, the other however sounds fine, im going to load the ones off quartermass with the voids this weekend and refurb the older cabs so i can give you a better conclusion as these have alloy input panels so i shouldnt have that problem,
