There were six of these in The Studio in Bristol, (long since knocked down Mecca nightclub), and they were painted, not a bit of carpet in sight. So I think there must've been an option when purchasing them.

hahaha my bad, just wonering because mine have dates inside 2 of them saying 19,11,92 and theyr definately ply, mustv been different models of the same bin maybey a budget version, out of the 2 pairs i have 2 have different input plates ie metal wheras the other are plastic and one pair seem slightly heavier, so maybey a different type of ply was used, they must have been in production for a long time so the slight differences are probly from different periods of production, they still sound awesome loaded with v-18's :)

Considering the statement that the "SL-36", went lower with the speaker access panel removed, I'm just curious as to what would happen if you blocked
off 1/2 of the horn throat with the access panel removed;
Ever heard the "Yorkville LS-808"? It's a "direct radiating, rear wave horn loaded, bass reflex" and sounds Amazing!

Maybe then, there'd be no need to punch port holes
In the front plate?!
