I remember seeing these at the Plasa show in 1994. I didn't quite get it, and still don't. I particularly hate the volume controls!

Oh! I know, they're so unpleasant, I just rotate them and they abuse me!

Got 8 DX 1 unit versions, they get hot but sound very good, the alternative at the time was 16 units just to run my top mids.

Yep , me too .

We used to use 3  Chameleon amps and a active x over to power a court accoustic club 8000 system . Don't remember much of the amp's except they were heavy !
Bit of a silly sight , a 4 unit amp rack being carried by 2 people .
Never had any problems with them .

Lol true have been around the forum with this rig and true had no idea what it was until did so.
Its a great thing this forum: you have a question and (some) people offer really useful first hand info and experience.
The use of the word legendary is a sudden turn around I will admit however it seems to be used a lot in refernce to this system.
By the way please send me the address of this mythological disco shop down sutton way as if they make well crafted, volt and rcf loaded boxes then I may think about swapping my manufacturers.
Just getting home from the lockup and somewhere between yesterday and today one of the cameleons has gone into hard clip! It seems (most of) you guys were correct about these amps!
Got a few mins to fire up the M2 stacks with my macro-techs though and... Very, very big grin on my face.
Night all

Surrey Sound & Light in Sutton.

I don't think they've made boxes like that in years, but if you chuck enough money his way I'm sure anything's possible!

yeah i bought some of surreys old volt drivers a few years ago .. wasnt impressed with the r3823 .. Tony Wilkes designed me a lovely cab for them , but as soon as you played any type of dance track through them, they struggled ... the 18" big brother is something else though RV4504 iirc.. awsome sounding driver
James, bin those amps before they go DC and take your drivers out too and leave you with a rather nice looking bonfire LOL
