What would folks driver recommendations be for a very high output double 18" Reflex box.
35 to 120hz.

How do you reckon that would compare to a dual 21" with say an 18Sound 21NLW4000?

Based on the simulations I've done recently, the 18SW115 will go lower than a lot of other drivers in the right cab. However it loses out by at least a couple of dB for most of the operating range because it has such a heavy cone.
Current list of candidates for the designs I've done recently are: Fane Prime 18XS B&C 18TBX100 or NBX100 (very similar on paper other than weight) Beyma 18P1000Fe V2 18Sound 18LW1400 or 2400 Based on simulations with 170L per driver tuned to 38Hz, there is very little (within 1dB) to choose between them. |

No point looking at just the frequency response and sensitivity without also checking Xmax -- the BMS 18N862 has a lot more than any of the other drivers, but this is rather wasted unless you want to go below 30Hz. |

All of the drivers I listed have very similar Xmax and will have very similar excursion curves in the same cabinet.
As you say, in most cases, excursion only really becomes a limiting factor if you're trying to maximise low extension. The 18SW115 also has massive excursion capability and power handling but it comes at the expense of sensitivity and probably transient response.

18TLW3000 +1 if you want a 35Hz tuning.
If you want to tune a little higher, ~38-42Hz, 18NLW9000. |
