We've been running our system for a bit now, but without a limiter and the time has come to get one.

The time has also possibially come to upgrade our T-racks as well, so what I was wanting to know is weather or not the limiting on the driverack 260 is worth giving any consideration or not?

In future I would like to get a drawmer, would the in-built one on the driverack protect against the majority of situations for the meantime or is it simply not worth using?

T-racks what? That's a brand of Thomann outboard units, what have you got?

The DBX limiters are quite good, you have control of attack, hold and release on each band/output plus there is a 'brick wall' limiter as well as a peak limiter (they call it 'overshoot). You have the option of an adjustable 'over easy' setting too which dictates how hard or soft the knee of the limiter is which is handy for making it smoother on mid-tops, especially since you often find the bass limits first and you want the whole system to limit at the same point to avoid becoming imbalanced, but don't want the tops to suddenly sound massively compressed.

We used them for a good few years and as long as you calculate the right settings they sound pretty good in limit. Might be up for selling one in a couple of week as well.

We've got the ds2/4, pretty basic but has done the job well, just starting to look at other options.

Wicked, useful info there. I'm still thinking I should meybie just bite the bullet, get a decent limiter then upgrade the crossover.

The Drawmer is really a different kettle of fish, we tend to only use one of our units if we're not going to be at the desk either for the entire gig or at all. Decent LMS limiting is more important in my opinion.
