Got few brilliant babies firing a bandpass cabs. Totally satisfied by their lightweight and pressure! What can they do being installed in a pair of Punishers I'm about to build? Cheers |

I don't know much about this, but from what I've picked up about the Punisher and suitable drivers this speaker might not have the Xmax needed, and the cone might not be strong enough?
Don't take my word for it though! |

As far as I know Ciare doesn't produce 12.00sw anymore.
What Xmax will be enough for Punisher? |

Ciare lie, a lot. PAP couldn't get hold of 4ohm 12's for me, as apparantly the Ciare guy reckoned they didn't make them, which of course they do. They just couldn't be arsedt sort out a small order. In terms of other drivers, read Mircea Birtec (sp?) thread about his version of the punishers. |

I agree, TS parameters are OK. The 12LW-1400 is a serious 12" driver.
But I do not know if the cone will stay one part with high power usage over longer time. The only way to find out is to try.
Also make sure you have at least 2cm behind magnet vent en the panel behind the speaker for proper cooling.
Best regards,
Walt

Walt,
Have you also considered drivers such as the B&C 12TBX100? Simulations look good and the cone should be quite strong (not as much as the Ciare obviously). Having looked at it, especially if you don't need the very lowest output from the Punisher, there are drivers which will give it a slightly flatter response and higher efficiency. I would try some other drivers if I didn't already have the Ciares in mine. |

I don't trust rubber suspension with woofers, it's just the easy way to reach Xmax, I think. By the way I never met these speakers over around.

Well your wrong there old chap
I think the rubber surround is most suited to the 'punisher'.
