Becoming as I am, a complete 12V lunatic obsessive type, I'm looking into different options for conveyance of portable soundsystems.
While I was searching Gumtree for trolleys, I came across a few of these three-wheeled electric motor trolleys meant for golf-caddying, in particular one of these: http://www.powakaddy.com/index.php/electric-trolleys/freeway.html going second-hand with an "18 hole" battery (a little investigation equates this to about 26ah) for around £100 -- haggle permitting. I'm wondering how easy it would be to modify one of these to hold a 12/10in full range cabinet and a shelf for a small 12V mixer, effects unit and ipod/netbook. Can anyone see any potential pitfalls, or think of any precedents? I like the idea of being able to use the motor when required, possibly adding a wheeled platform on the back to stand on (though this may affect motor performance too heavily). Any thoughts? -nsh Edited by nsh - 25 January 2012 at 1:56pm |

Are you after using the "on-board" battery for moving the trolley or for powering the sound system ?.
What kind of terrain are you after moving over ? .... that small front wheel is gonna be a right PITA going up/down kerbs etc. Make the COG as low as possible. If carrying a big(ish) lump like 110Ah leisure battery, accomodate that down low. |

i think you're supposed to tilt it up off the wheel when its trundling along over uneven ground at any rate.
These powercaddys are quite nice quality but I repaired one once where the thumbwheel speed pot had gone open circuit and it dragged the guy half way across the golf course before he let go. |
