Interesting that the high power handling is usually at the expense of sensitivity,as allways.....now if someone could make a driver with 100db/w/m efficiency, and have those kind of power handling capabilities, now that would be something.

Absolutely right Ian, that would be a leap forward that I'd like to see!

Kind of have to have one or the other unless somebody reinvents the core driver tech…

Sorry to be bumping up an old thread, but any fresh information on this driver post 2012? The eminence distributor in India is, how can I put it, .... very competitive with the pricing of Eminence products and is making them a attractive proposition.

A new product (2016) is the Kappa pro 18 lf - 8 which seems very interesting considering that the driver has a x max figure of 8 MM. Eminence has a duel woofer box design with a Vb of 12 cu.ft and a fb of 47 Hz. The driver remains within its X max limits even after feeding it 1600 watts. My only doubt is whether the two drivers can handle 800 watts each, considering the fact that they have a 3 inch voice coil (copper / Kapton former)

Your comments and opinions are welcome.

Amplifiers have offered 800 watts continuous under an 8 ohm load since the 1980's. A 3 inch voice coil if designed with good components will have no issues getting 800 watts of unclipped signal.

Best Regards,
