Got some squiggles for giggles:

Green =  FANE Sovereign 12-200LT
Dark red = P.Audio E12-100F
Puke yellow = Eminence Beta 12LT
Purple = FANE Sovereign 12-250TC

And the 12-250TC off axis (about 30 degrees):

Didn't apply a lot of smoothing and the room isn't great for measurements but hopefully useful for a comparison. Some pretty big peaks in there bit it does go all the way up as they claim.

Messing about with a graphic taking a load of 6.5k and 10k ish helped tame it a little.
Also noticed definitely very directional, even being a few degrees off makes a difference.

Still better than any other single full range driver I've ever seen!

Are the HF250 decent drivers? I got given a pair of cabs a few years ago that have sat in my shed doing  nothing. Someones old disco rig from the 70s. Think the cabs are branded Titan. Have a HF250 and a cast chassis Fane 12" (cant remember which model).

it's a shame though that the 12-250TC has such a high Qts...... I wonder if it is punchy enough in a small enclosure.

It depends on what you are hoping to get out of it. I would say that for applications such as a small monitor wedge, keyboard combo, small vocal pa, it will do the job really well.  We did some of our tests in a compact 12" wedge, and got perfectly acceptable results.

WINISD predicts it could work in a closed 64 l enclosure down to around 100 Hz and take full rated power...... and output around 118 dB

I included a 100 Hz second order hi pass to limit excursion...

magnitude response:

SPL:

cone excursion:

  Please keep us informed, reading through this thread reminds me of using big old cabs (normally 2x12's) loaded with HH and Fane whizzer cones when I first started doing discos, I must admit I thought they sounded ok at the time, especially when you stuck a piezo box on top for a bit of extra sparkle! Embarrassed

Yep... but, try and find a diaphragm for it! There are aftermarket ones out there, but they're not a patch on the originals.

And the more I see of those Fane full range drivers, the more I like them.

I had some of those cabs back in around 1991, that was 'my first PA' - fairly sure they were H+H - they werent earth shattering, but they did the job for a year or so until I started getting into building things myself.

Anyone remember Fane Disco 80's?
The mainstay of many disco cabs in the late 70's
it's all just cardboard and magnets really
