Hi guys, I've got a driver that's confusing me slightly....

It's a fane colossus 15xb that meters up at 6 ohms but the website says they only made it in 4 or 8 ohms

As a little background, it's a club install I removed when it closed. This was an RCF box that used to be active, clearly the amp module has blown so someone had hard wired the driver to a speakon socket they had added

Anyone know how or why it have a 6ohm driver like this?? What to do with it? No use to me!!

4 0r 8 is an impedance rating not a DC resistance!

its normal for speakers when being metered that the reading will be allways different wont be bang on ect 8r driver on meter wont be 8r , sometimes read like 7.4 can variy, ie 16ohm driver can meter at like 12/13ohm ect

yep that's a fairly standard reading for an 8 ohm driver.

It's the dc resistance, (as mid-man stated above)have you another to compare? Could of been a 4 that was over driven maybe...

I'm after another xb myself

I got a B&C driver here that measures 5.6 ohms on the multimeter for an 8 ohm driver, so I guess different multimeters vary when testing drivers.
But plays absolutely fine.

if you nip onto the OEM website they NORMALLY state the dc resistance for 4,8 and 16 ohm versions of their drivers, which should make it easier for finding which impedance you have.
