Some may recall, that this time last year, I installed 9 NEC 46" LCDs to make a single screen, about 3.1x1.8m, with only a 7mm total bezel between screens for a client. All great, apart from getting buggered by the supplier advising us to use the wrong brackets, which meant it all had to come down, and got refitted.....

Any how. Same client, new venue, wants another big screen. We have specced a 5mm pitch, 3000nit LED screen, approx 3x2m, and including the electric hoists for access/service, and all dvi-d infrastructure, and camera stuff, Kramer DVI-D switching etc, comes in about £70K. Lovely. Everyone's happy.

However, they are reluctant to go LED, over fears of "low resolution".

They are now seriously considering this. UK price is nudging £500K (+VAT?)

They may actually have the money to do it too!Dead

Feck. All just to run low res powerpoints through! From iPads!

The bloody thing is nudging 500Kg, the brackets alone are circa 70kg, and recommend a minimum of 27 M12 fixings to "the wall". It needs a minimum 500mm gap all round for ventilation, and 700mm access behind, for service access.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should?

A mate of mine has installed one of those beasts. The client had to have a surveyor come in to check the wall it would be attached to. Ridiculous if you ask me!

Yeah, certainly of the gospel tradition, with a touch of catholicism as an underlying mind set!

Keep paying your 10% straight in gents, pays for me to keep the wife and kids in the manor they want to be accustomed to? Don't forget to gift aid it, get your income tax back of HMRC.

To be honest, I am all for having something to pull your plonker too, but for £1/2M I could do so much more.

Just seems daft. £100K on LED would be awesome. Our original "affordable" solution would be more than enough, but what do you do.

I did an install once in a church down here. All the Censoreding woodwork in the place was covered in gold leaf! And then they plead poverty and want state help to 'keep going' - haha. Angry
