i traditionally start one of these every year, full of pics from all over the place. Sadly this year i haven't really taken many at all, but suppose ill start off with a few and let others fill the gaps out.
So Latitude - not really speaker related i know but: arena build: and pack: lounge on the farm - main [some tiny groundstacked logic Line system complete underspec, which didn't throw the sound very far through the crowd, and during the day had screaming topend. Not pleasant at all]: dance tent - hoedown [fk1, sounded pretty nice, with the quad stacks, and plenty of F121's, but unfortunately was lots of fart-step and audience was like a school disco on crack. Nasty nasty venue atmosthere....] and finally Ynot? main - EM quakes on subs, and guessing this maybe the halo arrays? Either way for the relatively small rig size compared to last year, it really did sound pretty good, really filled the arenas nicely. The kick during the darkness while i was in the pit was awesome. bonus pic: Edited by mk2_ginger_biscuit69 - 06 August 2013 at 9:00pm |

Good plan, I'l upload some shortly. Also that line array at the bottom is too big for the Halo ,they really are tiny boxes. Kind of looks a tiny bit like the arcline 12 but im not sure from the photo.

I went to Ynot, I thought the main stage did indeed sound very good, plenty of low mid which is what always pisses me off about other line arrays. I reckon the engineers were, in general, overcooking the kick drum a bit though. Must have been a bit of a dead spot right at the desk or summat. Or perhaps they were just revelling in the 18" hornloaded goodness
I was there on the Octopus' Garden field and briefly in the campsites with the bike trailer rigs, at the behest of the Tribe of Xanadu guys, wanted to do more disco excursions but the mud defeated us somewhat, still good fun though :) Gonna build me a TANK of a bike for Shambala, just to ensure it doesn't rain I'll see what pictures my mate got on his phone...

haha i must have walked past you guys chilling on the armchairs outside the reggae tent with the bikes on the friday afternoon, thought i should say hello as they would probably be speakerplanners, but unfortunately was working at the time and wasn't allowed to socialise, just 'sneak' around in all blacks looking very obvious to anyone looking.... was nice getting to wonder around and listen to whatever i wanted however. |

Cornbury 2013
Finally!...NOT a line array. Turbo Aspect. Sounded even and great everywhere in the coverage. Funky sub array courtesy of Danny C from Turbosound who was system tech for the festival. Was used to widen the L+R sub and reduce the power alley. Not much cancellation behind but enough to notice on stage when it was dialled in. Splendour in the Grass, Byron Bay 2013 ....errr I see no grass! Oh hang on there`s a bit poking out of that sea of mud! And at Splendour ....my fave ..Airbourne ...all stacks turned on and belting out ! Yes there`s a drummer in there somewhere! And this is how Mons world usually ends up when there`s visting bands who bring WAY TOO MUCH kit ! From Deni Blues and Roots earlier this year.... .p. Edited by Phil B - 07 August 2013 at 3:34am |
