peter i've read up on this.. and i agree they do seem to have been designed to array with the splay angle (flying hardware agrees). but i'm fairly sure the likes of shagnasty and 4d have said they need to be splayed a little further apart for best results.

nearly done with my refurb on mine so will get to play with them a bit more myself soon and see.

I'm having a hard time believing either Shagnasty or 4d knows better than the designers of the boxes.

I own and use 4x TFL-760Ht (trap boxes) and my system has been SMAART'ed by professionals several times. The splay angle is correct as designed.

with regards to the ratios, i believe they are meant to be used 1:1 for typical PA use, but that can be tailored depending on what sort of sound you are going for

in terms of ratio, yeah 1:1 for 'PA use', but generally, same with all systems, more is better, then tune the levels to sound right in the venue, and enjoy your headroom you have by not ragging it like a 'soundsystem' and actually sound as good as you can Thumbs Up

and Hvedstrub sounds like he is on course to make many new friends on here hahaha.... How you define an 'audio professional' is anyone's guess, because many claim to be and not many are! There are huge differences between sound techs [they aren't engineers - engineers are highly qualified industry recognised people who specify design test and commission products/projects], system technicians [who generally specialise in the deployment and tuning of large systems - these would be a good bet on people who can safely do this], and general do it all's [who don't have access to vast sums of equipment, and generally operate out the back of the van]. Not saying theres anything wrong with any of these, but there certainly is a difference, and is why in general when i meet someone who claims they are a 'fully qualified sound engineer' i dismiss them and find a hot female to talk too instead!

Depends on the style of music ...  36 bins to a top seems to be about standard for certain styles LOLLOLLOLLOL

The audio professionals i'm referring to are people that work with pro-audio for a living and have the relevant training. The last time it was measured it was by a guy with extensive SMAART and Meyer training and is are highly regarded here in Denmark.

If the flying for the trap boxes dictates the correct splay that has been proven to work (and measured) i'm having a hard time understanding why you would challenge this.
