just ordered 2 of these with crossovers so i can build a couple of bins that are clean and crisp
wanted to put a couple of bullet tweeters with them or a small horn and compression driver
any ideas on designs that would suit the drivers and my plans????

You won't need any additional HF drivers because it has a compression driver built into it. Just mount it in a suitable box with the crossover and you're away!

Have a look on the B&C Website at their Box10 Design. If you just build that but put the driver in the middle and don't fit the HF horn you won't be far off.

the only trouble with that is the box is designed to take 500w LF and about 60w HF these drivers are rated a lot less than this and id imagine that this would affect the sound quality and frequency responses

Use WinISD to calculate the box for that driver.

Power rating of drivers is one of the less useful bits of information and has very little bearing on what type of box you put it in. The cabinet can however affect the powerhandling capability of the driver.
What I'm saying is that the fact that the drivers suggested for the Box10 are rated at 500W makes no difference to whether the 10NCX will work in the same cab or not. With a co-axial driver like the 10NCX all it needs is a simple bass reflex enclosure like the Box10 to extend the low frequency capability. It also needs to be free of unwanted resonances (eg lining with foam will achieve this). The driver handles everything else, mostly independent of it's cabinet above a couple of hundred Hz. |
