Wow, that's a lot of reading. Thanks so much for sharing. I'm not wanting to become a pro engineer or what not, but understanding the basics would be really useful to me and this looks like exactly what I should be reading

See you in a month :)

Hi people,

I'm totally new to this and could do with some advice if possible; I have an unloaded reflex cabinet and a 15" Eminence Kappa driver, I need to load the cabinet but have no idea what wiring, plugs and sockets I need.

I suppose I will need a speakon adapater for the side of the cabinet and some heavy gauge wire to connect the amp to the cab but what exact speakon plug/socket will I need?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the wiring tips mate, what would you mean by linking out ?

Would that be for running several cabs in series?

Link to another cab. You would be running them in parralel rather than series if you wired it as bee has said. This is the usual and prefered way to do it.

Okay brilliant thanks. Would 14 gauge speaker wire be appropriate for connecting the Amp to the speaker?

2.5mm to 6mm depending on what type of cab you are powering.

2.5mm for hf and 12" drivers
4mm for 15" and 18" drivers
6mm for 21" and 24" drivers

as a rule of thumb, most people run 2.5mm for everything...

I read this a few years ago. It took a few nights but once i started i couldn't stop. Everything is in there from amp types to stacking, bit of history and humour too.

I know many here are Peavey haters but this

is the first thing any one in sound should know or learn. Nice lil story init too!!!
