Ok here's the sims of LF18x451
SBH sim seems awful (50hz dip) compared to Amano (grey) look below
But to be fair I must say there's some enlosure volume difference?
Should be near the same, but Amano has much more compression 1:3

Looks terrible after the uploader! Parting in editor works until I press "post"
So ok, this sim is the OPOSITE way around, Amano black & SBH grey 0,5 pi @ 3200Watt :-)

The amano is still flat & beautiful, SBH looks bad, I wonder higher compression makes the amano distort.

Here's a comparison of SBH (black) to invader:

The two cabs are like night & day, look at 50 hz!
Invader plays quite louder with 5L volume, but looses a little deep hz then

No wonder the amano sims better, much bigger cab! + 25cm!
Still I think a SBH with 90 degrees amano/invader folding & a little more compression can do better.
Pics are shit, I tried JPG instead of png, no difference, the uploader / forum is just destroying them:-(

They're about to build a soundsystem in Peru!
The amano is 120x120x60 = 864 HUGE box!
The sbh is only 95x120x54 = 615,6 liters!

Now did you ever check out this "alternative wsx" much smarter than the Martin, invader style:

If you upload direct to the forum, it resizes down to a certain size and I think adds more file compression than in your original - I use an offsite image host (imgur, fwiw) and insert linked imges in to the post - that preserves the image quality much better. The forum will still display them at a max of 750px wide but people can use the link to get the original if they need higher resolution and it won't compress as much.
Cheers,
David.

The sbh response looks so strange, I made a little random changes in loudspeaker wizard just to see what happened, the volume is the same, the output looks much better / flatter:

Update:

Its been a while...

Things are not exactly running as smooth and fast as i would like to,
but we are basically 2 guys building the box and we both have a lot of other stuff to do,
so its hard to find time...

And everything here in Lima/Perù just takes longer time,
because its never that easy to find exactly what you are looking for...

Anyways

To start we bought 2 x RCF LF18X451

Could see later on the Sims that maybe its not exactly the best driver for SBH...
But that didnt stop us to continue with SBH.
Can always try the Amano Horn if this doesnt work out.

Corrected the 3D google sketchup model that was uploaded here
(If anyone is interested in that one send me a message)

We found some shitty wood that probably will work ok for the first prototype
some 7 layered 18mm "Fenolico" -

None of the local "carpinteros" here have ever heard of a 13 layered 18mm wood?

Come on chicos... Im not requesting some alien technology
Just some decent wood to build some subs :)

Well the search continues but, so far its good to be in process with the prototype.

Even to find a place that can cut the right angles seems to be harder than expected.

All wood is cut though, treated with some anti termite/long life product.
We more or less constructed the whole box, split it apart again
to build it again and this time with some good amounts of
some glue, that is probably not working as it should.
(But it was the BEST quality we could find)

I have basically no experience building anything in wood
my friend have build some boxes for other purposes before,
but he never tried to build a speaker...

How can i upload/post pics?

Good luck with your building 😊
I am curious about how the RCF LF18X451 will work in sbh.
I am actually interested in anything about the sbh.
I really like to take a look at the google sketchup.

I don't know why it shouldn't be the best driver?
Did you compare to a n401 simulation?
It has a big dip around 50hz

Little Update:

Finally got confirmation that the kind of wood we are looking for doesnt exist on the peruvian market.
That took a while.

So we gonna try to build a new prototype of MDF

Theres also a few changes we want to make to the original plan.
Its kind of like no matter how you try and put the driver theres 1 screw you cant screw in...
And the way the lid works with the 12mm wood -Is really bad when you have shitty wood...
So we gonna modify that.

We did some tests on the wodden prototype

It have a huge dip -10db around 50hz and +5db around 73hz

It was far away from being a perfect build, the wood was not as tight as it should be because it kind of morphed itself due to humidity...

Once again comes up a big question...

Continue with SBH or eventually try AMANO?

Mattias sorry about the 3D model, but its not ok as it is now
