faulty plug or possibly dirty contacts to the power cable? Some of mine fit loosely and if jiggled will power down.

Not done that many gigs with mine, had it around 8 months but it seems fine so far. Bought it B Stock from Thomann... so cheaper but still has a 3yr warranty and has hopefully been thoroughly checked over. Really impressive and liberating unit for the money. Can't fault the sound quality or features apart from the limiters. Would be nice to have a properly limited input to it. I use a cloud CX335 before the ultradrive. When the rig is turned all the way up there is a bit of an interference kind of noise but you can't hear it at all once there is music playing. It's not loud and doesn't really sound like frying eggs. Most audible from the compression drivers. Probably some power supply issue outside of the ultradrive... I have a strong suspicion that a lot of issues will be down to vibration. It's cheaply built and probably uses a lot of stuff more commonly used in PCs.. poorly fitting ribbon cables etc... If you stick your amp box on a wooden floor which also has 8X18" subs on it with no effort to isolate the amp box from the floor then I think that is where some problems might stem from. I put about 8" of soft upholstery foam sandwiched between thin plywood and put my amp box on that. Stops the worst of the vibration getting to the amps and processors. I do worry about it going dodgy mid gig though... trying to restrain myself from buying a backup!!

My Ultradrive sends a couple of drivers a strange muffled/staticy loud noise and is temporarily solved by knocking the Ultradrive quite gently...that solves it til it comes back again every 20 mins or so.
Any suggestions?

Likely causes are ribbon cable crimp ponts, berry used a multistrand type ribbon cable which does'nt work so well with the connectors, either solder the cable or get some solid core ribbon of the right guage and re crimp, ther thing to check is that the output board isn't shorting against the casing.

So what's the latest?
Good chance of happy ownership with a new Ultracurve? Only going to be used as a basic xover and EQ solution for an all reflex system mostly and sometimes with horns in a 4 way system(reflex sub, Cibo kick, turbo TMS mid/hf) Reliable enough? |

LOL, we have behringer in here! Welcome :-)
I actually always thought that the behringer dsp & cable tester was some of the best on the market, of course their cabletester was a 100% copy of another brand too small to fight them, like so many other behringer products, but unlike the other behringer products these two are actually reliable and have great sound (especially the cable tester LOL) |

Well didn't expect a Behringer rep to reply. I know the early models had issues with the ribbon cable etc but it does seem as though the later units are much better. Oh well put an order in, see how it goes and may grab another at some stage.

Personally I don't like Behringer equipment it's a hit and miss for reliability and also seems to have a reasonable amount of hiss. I used to have a Behringer active crossover and i've heard their loudspeaker management system a few times, I say anyone who's thinking about a Behringer loudspeaker management system is better off saving up a bit more money and going for Dbx Driverack instead. If someone wants a rack mount effects processor then a better choice would be a used TC Electronic M-One XL or Lexicon MPX-1 or something.
I won't ever buy anything from Behringer again. |

Not been a great fan of Uli's business practices but in the end I sold my driverack to by a dcx, knock the spots off th dbx, quite liking the x32 as well, each to their own I guess. |
