Full bridge SMPS with paralleled IGBT's then?  They haven't gone the whole hog and done a phase shifting full bridge because they'd need two transformers for that.

Still surprised that with the high spec IGBT's available nowadays that they need that many.

No the cables are threaded through very small holes at the back but you have to disconnect the cables to get the control panel out of the cabinet forwards then withdraw the amp chassis backwards. That is just for purposes of the repair as in the pic.
Either way it is (like most modern ampegs) an abortion.

This is a modern copy of the old SVT. In that one, you can take the valves out and remove a plate to get to the pcb underneath so you dont need to remove any of the hand-wired pcbs. In this modern copy, the plate is still there but they've wired oversize valve holders through it so you cant lift the plate up more than 2mm. That facility must've gone over the modern designer's head!

Blinking heavy, finger trapping, maddening piece of expensive metal.

PS £1500 retail. Give me a HiWatt any day of the week.

I think these are 40A each

Can't remember the type, all boxed up now, prob IXGH40N120

2 x 2700W into 2R

Input rectifier is 50A

More glue than behringer and twice as sticky!!

I can just about see the holes now on the picture now you mention it. What a mission just to unhook the cables. Bet it sounds good though.

BGW/CREST AUDIO/MC2.

There's a 'how to post pics' guide in the newbie section... but I don't know if you can post up pics until you posted enough comments?

erm

sorry 8 igbts for switching plus 2 secondary regulators.

So single DC bus and bipolar drive to smpsu transformer

DC capacitors are just 2 180V 1000uF units in series off the AC line rectifier.

Mmmmm, now thats lovely Clap. Even though the control panel/unit sits at an angle in the case is there a reason why the cables run over the top of it? The only reason I can think of is to have the units sitting as they are in the photo whilst servicing. They could have put them at the rear of the control unit, or am I being too fussy!!!!!
