Oh
it's Melodium tranformers on his back ?
used as " microphone transformers" ?

i've find similar transformers with an old PA  100V amplifier
a Bouyer ST30

i've recycled the tranformers in "direct-input boxes"
there transformers souds great

for the PHD PD3600
i use it vith the 11 program , dsp bypassed
not really the amplifier introduce 1,5 mS delay into the signal and cut about at 20 Khz

presets 1, 2 and 3 was programmed
no programs at other presets

a clone of DAP ?
dap software compatible ?
edit:
i'm viewed DAP xtreme700 users manual
dsp seems identically in "offline" mode

no briged operation for PHD

Yes, those are the ones. There there to match low impedence mics to high impedence input of the valves - similar to a DI, just the other way around.   Smile

Love the wooden housing, one piece tub with lid.  Get some oil on it.

wooden Di ?
a pratical choise

machined holes in wooden with a router to make cases
machined lit  also with router
asembled XLR ant jack sockets on lit
soldered transformers wire on sockets
gluted lit on cases

machined sides with joiner
and
separated the Di boxes

i've used 2 types of Melodium transformers
fisrt , 1:20 , ideal for a Di box
second  1:2 i use it for machines with low output level

BTW, how many cables do your transformers actually have? It´s a bit difficult to tell from the photos. The ones I have on the amp only use 4, ie balanced side is floating and so has to be tied to earth to work properly. That would make them difficult to use for (fully flexible) DI as you can´t lift the earth. Have you had any problem with that?

ground lift ?
it's lifted
only one problem
vith a keybord fited vith SMPS power adapter , no ground on this SMPS : small hum

the 20:1 have 4 wires
pimary , secondary , sield is connected to can
high impedance winding measured about at 3500 ohm with a mulitmeter

2:1 is a 1:1:1 with 2 windings serial coupled
6 wires
3 wires for primary ( 1:1 )
2 wires > seconary
and shield

on the valve amplifier , hum with a balanced microphone ?

Anybody here seen inside one of the new HH Scalar amps yet? There's a more than passing resemblance to the 500D externally. Be interested to know if there's any heritage architecture remaining internally.

Yes, that sounds like the one on the amp. Balanced mic properly connected doesn´t hum, no.  Smile

And what I meant is that you can´t isolate the low-impedence/balanced side earth as it has to be connected to the common earth point, otherwise it will hum. I´ve built plenty of DI´s and always used transformers with a centre tap for the extra flexibility.

Eg:  http://www.thomann.de/es/neutrik_nte_103_audio_uebertrager.htm

"Class 2H circuit with switch-mode power supply" - so probably just a passing resemblance.
