DB technologies HPA1400
one power board

it's souds good on mid-tops
im surprised , all NPN devices on left heatsink, all PNP devices on right heatsink
8 devices per heatsink

4 per channel
heatsink at supply-voltage ?
no insulating material under devices ?

the HPA 2800 as 2 power-boards:

2 small amplifiers
the worst

Boost npa215
aprox 2*150w/8 ohm with a beautiful hum
i've reduce this hum with a modification of groud routing , bad conception

audiophony AS600
approx 2x110w/8 ohm
sounds correct
replaced an output relay

Ive used them to drive some 21'' turbo bins, they do a surprisingly good job for what they are, but if u can live with the weight, nothing touches a proline 3000 for less than £500 on sub duty.
Very good for a budget amp rack, walks over the inukes, but i wouldn't be rushing out to fill an amp rack with them unless i was on a shoestring budget.

"heatsink at supply-voltage ?
no insulating material under devices ?"

Not that uncommon, eg Crown grounded bridge topology. And I had a couple of Harrison amps that were built like that as well (X1000 series).

The insides of the DB technologies HPA1400 amplifier look the same as a Nova DXP3600, even has that sealed black box near the input stage, is it made by the same people Wink.
