Picture 3 bottom boards, very similar to me as regards a crest CA driver card.

Not exactly a dedicated amp or anything, but I was cleaning my PC and found these low quality pics from about a year ago. Amplifier module from Phonic PA450 active speakers. Bi-amp, transistor stage for LF and TDA7293 based HF amp for BMD-440 HF horn driver.
LF stage is rated for 165W, class H (330 peak), HF 60W, class AB (120 peak) Can't see the other side but the heatsink is quite substantial. So is the power transformer. Speakers weigh about 32Kg each. Here's the woofer it drives. That's a pretty large magnet for a 12" Edited by JJax - 03 December 2015 at 10:43pm |

I had a pair of ppx900s a while back, both were faulty on channel A, one was lacking in bass, the other distorted, I've been racking my brains trying to remember what the actual fault was (it was the same on both amps despite different symptoms) but I can't recall what exactly it was. What I an remember is that no major components required replacement, I think it was just driver transistors, some electrolytics and re-biasing. I doubt there is much wrong with your 450, solid amps these!

Cheers Njw, that makes me feel more comfortable, although gee electronics quoted only £20 to look at it. The only thing that looks that it got hot is the driver transistor as it happens. Thanks though, will post up pics when it's fixed (and thoroughly cleaned)...
p.s what amps do you use now?

I was looking at those 3 PPX's but they were too far away from me to go and get them. Try moving the bridge switch back and forth a few times, I've had one of mine loose a channel before and just dirty contacts on the bridge switch was the problem. I have 17 PPX amps, every model in the range.

My 'go to' amps are a triplet of C Audio XR3801's, they may be heavy and not particularly powerful on paper by todays standards but they just keep on chugging it out (much like a ppx!).
