Spotted these designs on diyaudio. Respect to Josh for posting these up, an impressive amount of detail on the design, build and measurement process, could provide inspiration for anyone designing a tapped horn.
I was interested to read about the importance of bracing/cabinet mass, change in response of drivers when bedded in, hornresp being very close to the (highly developed!) akabak script, slightly more lf response than modelled, and the group delay measurements. Though I havent looked at this sub - and it dosent look like something I would waste time to build. BUT I wanted to make a note on the freq response graph. Danely himself said that when desinging you did not want a flat curve. That you wanted a trough at the lowest end. |
