Just stick to the recommended driver.

If you are looking for alternatives, then take a good look at all the parameters and make sure that they are very very close to the recommended one.

The GTI 1200 is not a good match for the THAM. It has a fairly small xmax, the BL is too low & the QTS is too high.

Sorry to post another 'will xxx worki in the Tham?' question but..........
Would a Lab12 work in the Tham12? It seems to have a few of the TS requirements?

I use the help file, I think it's great:-)
But Google it & it:-) See:
http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/diy-subwoofers-general-discussion/36532-hornresp-dum-hmm-everyone.html
https://www.freespeakerplans.com/forum/8-advanced-discussion/8687-horn-resp-for-beginners?start=10
http://www.avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/1212465-simple-tapped-horn-tutorial-using-hornresp.html

Ok basically first section is 2 pi (free on ground) 2,83V (1watt) (or use 1 pi to compare to 1pi sims)
Next section is how area increases by hornsectionlength, copy-paste that from tham12 simulation.

Next section is speaker specs, read specsheet, fill out what you can first, double-click other fields to make hornresp calculate for you, then it will ask for Fs, Qes etc.

Last section is rear/front chamber, copy past from tham12-in this case all zero I guess.

Which driver has the best performance?

Im looking http://www.martinsson.cc/blog/index.php?entry=THAM12 - here at the list of simulated drivers, but can anybody recommend any which might have the best performance (ignoring efficiency). Want max SPL, with good frequency response, quality etc etc. I have access to large amps, so which driver will allow me to squeeze as much as possible out of these little subs

thanks

Fane 12xb has great perfomance in there, why would you "ignore efficiency"
If you want to play loud it's all about efficiency.
Raw power by WATTS will distort & blow your speaker at the end of the day

What is a no-go? Using different drivers?
Don't know what the new-christian drivers puritanism in here is aboutClap
-But I know he suggested several drivers and are open to this.

Yet you might refer to something copletely different?
