Hi,
Does anyone know which drivers that is mounted in the "internet available plan" for the d&b B2 subwoofer? Is it the RCF 18S800? The plan hasn't the same dimension as the one listed one the d&b website today. Perhaps they changed the dimensions / tuning because of change to B&C drivers or what ever they use now. Any information is appreciated. |

If you would have used Google you would have found the B&C 18PZB46 was mentioned in several threads about this same subject.

As far as I know the design has always been the same, so the plan you have found is probably wrong.
It's also worth noting that you cant expect the same results without driving it with a d&b amplifier carded for a B2. Build 2 X1's instead.

As your man says, no such thing a s B2 cab, the B2 is an end to end solution, personally I like the B2 but would never use it the way it usually gets deployed, a few on an Aux under a D&B line array rocks, with C4 same again but mono-blok, unless you are very good at reverse engineering amps (which TBH isn't tricky) why bother building a cab you can never load or control??? A couple of X1s, a chunky amp and some time spent mapping will blow away any "homebrew" B2... |

If i decide to bother building a couple of subs they would be driven by either a D12 or a D80 amp, or perhaps an old Macrotech 5000 with XTA processing.. The only purpose of the build is to have some fun, and challenge myself.
In the link below, you can see the difference between the internet plan, and the real B2. The green lines to the right is the real b2, and the white lines to the left is the internet plan. http://s682.photobucket.com/user/Ibex2912/media/Audio-Guru%20System/B2%20Sub%20-%20C7%20Sub/B2planvsreal.png.html?sort=6&o=21 Anyone can see that it isn't the same. The port size is different I still think that they used to build ones with the RCF 18S800 speakers a while ago, but have also heart the B&C PZB46 mentioned before. Here is a picture of a speaker inside the B2 http://s682.photobucket.com/user/Ibex2912/media/Audio-Guru%20System/B2%20Sub%20-%20C7%20Sub/29072011321.jpg.html?sort=6&o=5 |

The current replacement driver for the d&b B2 ( same as for the Q sub ) has a striking resemblance to the b&c 18tbx100.... label on the box kind of gives it away too... They did use the PZB46 some years back, but it has been discontinued now...

18TBX100 would probably be fairly useful in the X1 to...
Not a big fan of the B2 myself, loud but never thought it added anything I liked. The design on the web is incorrect and if you simulate it you get both the front and rear chambers tuned very close together which will give a one-note wonder with massive group delay!

most overrated sub imo - one note wonder fits quite well... THE one note is indeed tremendous for the power the original Amps put out but they never seemed to be intended to be musical or natural sounding anyways, just more or less efficient at what they do |
