Hi guys,
I need to sort a battery for a little 12v system we are taking to a festival this weekend and I havnt got time to get one delivered of the Internet. I can't seen to find a sealed lead acid battery for sale in any shops so was wondering if a car battery would be Alrite? |

Yeah it'll work but if it's a flooded type make sure you keep it upright at all times, if you put it on its side for any length of time the acid will dribble out of the vents. The weight/ run-time ratio will not be as good as an SLA but it will power up your gear no problem.

What run time could be expected running off an 110ah car battery? I'm also looking to run a head unit and a couple of small speakers for a festival this wkend

Difficult to say as it depends on the head unit, how much energy is wasted in redundant electronics such as blinking lights and because it will likely be a very inefficient class AB amplifier the current drain will also depend a lot on how loud you play so somewhere between 24 and 40 hours is likely.
For comparison a 110Ah deep cycle battery will run a TA2020 (or similar) amp at maximum volume for at least 9 days, 24/7. The output of a TA2020 amp is identical to the output of a car head unit amp so the efficiency difference is enormous.

Also beware discharging car batteries completely, they won't tolerate it as much as deep cycle leisure batteries.
