I'm hoping ye all can help me understand what's going on with this.

I'm powering a 600w 8ohm P-Audio loaded Tham 15 with one of these
It's sounding pretty good but on very Bass heavy tracks it seems to 'run out of breath' and go flat, kinda 'Farty' if really loud.
If that makes sense??
Is this a sign of not enough power for the driver?
Is that due to the 8ohm driver being driven off this Amp?

Should I consider adding a power capacitor??

A power cap might help but you also need very thick cables. You're pulling up to 55A-60A in peaks from the battery. That requires some substantial cables to avoid voltage sag at peak outputs.

I've a very heavy power cable to the Amp that's only about 500mm long.
Do you think my problem is a lack of power?
Would you say a Cap is worth a go??

Try to have as short and as big as possible power cable.

try the speaker with a bigger (mains power) amp and the same tracks and see how it sounds?

Check the amp isnt bottoming out and you have a suitable High pass in place so your not playing outside the drivers ability and not smacking the back of the magnet with the coil trying to play 20Hz tones with a driver that Xmax's in the 40s.

But just like you would with car audio short thick leads on both + and - and make sure the battery is nice big and chunky.... a 8A 12sla battery just wont cut the mustard.
If it sounds like a gorilla is trying to escape, turn it down.

Subsonic is at 50hz but I'm not sure how effective it is.
I've a nice thick cable on the +ve but I could beef up the -ve alright.
Plenty of Battery power, it's 110ah

If you use a heavy cable for the + use the same heavy cable for the -

Ok so your not smacking the coil play low lows as your sub sonic is set to 50Hz.
Can you not tone sweep it?.... theres loads of test sweeps on youtube if you wana see you SS filter in action.

I'd be well interested to know the result of this. Was thinking of getting one of these amps and having a HPF at 50Hz is a big reason.

I played a some basic test tones through it.
You can still hear the 50hz which makes me sceptical as to how effective the SS filter is.
Also, you could still hear a 200hz tone with low pass at 110, confusingConfused
