anything over 145 you loose too much kick and gain too much honkyness, maybe when you own some you'll see what i mean.

ive heard these play above scoops up to 200hz nearly and they sounded fine.

i will build these to put above my scoops soon unless i find something better (which there no doubt is but i like the sound of them but do recommendLOL)

so its 200 now, that changed quick, next there will be no need for mids as they'll play up to your comps??

@mini, no pics off all 18 yet as the 6 above are for a different project and have yet to be painted or loaded, but im sure ill manage a pic at some point LOL

back to the OP
Have a play around if it sounds good your ears then its probably going to sound good.

i play mine on a butterworth filter on a 12db/octave slope, if the musics going to be a bit too bass heavy then i put a steeper slope on to save stressing the driver but usually and take some x1s if it was going to be a bass heavy night.

I would love to hear 18 Hds together, it would probably re-arrange your internal organs! I had four HD215s and they didn't half hoof it out. Sadly, I sold them nearly a year ago as I needed funds and space, I haven't heard a sound system since with the same brutal kick they had (not that I've been far to hear any!!), I still miss cranking them up in a big room, the pair of 18" reflex cabs I have now do what I need of them but its not the same. bridging the amp and running at 4 ohm has worked. they are crossed at 180 in the pre- this isn't something i'm able to adjust without it going back to Jah Tubbys. Overall the sound is fine with them crossed here; there is a need to eq out some of the higher fq however as it does tend to sound a touch honky without doing so.

Just a note of caution.
Most feedback along the way with the HD15 has been that once you get much more than 5-600W per box, you simply don't get any more returns from them. Although the old adage of 2x amp power to RMS is good, from experience, driving them really hard with big amps doesn't actually bring anything more to the table, other than risk of damage (which people have seen when driving hard). This was often with the recommended PD154 driver but also seen with PD156 (off the top of my head) which all considered to be fairly tough drivers.
Go carefully... ;)

Also, do you have wadding/dampening material in your rear chamber? This can help with the sound but I would tend to agree that 120-140 LPF would be about the optimum.
