djk,
Do the speakers have to share the same chamber in a PPSL? Or can they be in separe as in the in the Axiom layout? I'm interested in trying 15" PPSL but can't make the box deeper than 60 cm if it's going to fit in my car.

if you want the plan to that box, go and download the 3d cad plan as the silly sausages have left all the internal info in there so you can measure it all up the 2 x 18 on that site also gives you the plan bit like F1. they also give their plans away in the cad drawings because their cad ppl are lazy and dont remove the internals |

It's not completely irrelevant, "The equalization filters Eq1 and Eq2 must be carefully set in order to obtain proper performances." As can be seen on the plan t.geessounds posted, page 3-4. Good to know. |

Regarding the Axiom double 15", is this not just a 6th order bandpass?
Mikey, I'm not saying you're wrong at all but this type of enclosure has a reputation for a "one note wonder" characteristic, simimlar to the D&B B2 etc. I suppose it depends on the induvidial tuning. I have to admit I like the idea of a nice double 15. Can anyone work out what drivers they're using in it?? And also DJKs PPSL box is just two relex boxes added together with one driver physically inverted. So, in my mind the only difference is the chamber sizes to make it a reflx rather than 6th order BP.

It's all just 6th order BP (as long as the impedance plot say's it is). The smaller and less deep the chamber is, the lower the output and higher up the resonance is. To high and it get's out of the used bandwidth. A chamber 30 cm deep done right can add below 100 Hz.
Cubo 18 vs PPSL/ 2 x 15" reflex? I'd say it all comes down to the drivers used. Bad ass 18" vs 2 times Kappa 15LF or similar. The Cubo 18 aint scared and shows who's boss. Two times 15" with (less than) 2 - 3 dB power compression @ 500 W each, the Cubo 18 is in trouble. It's good but it's not that good. Well, if you say 45 Hz and up I would advise the Axiom 2 x 15" PPSL, if
you also need some output in the 35 - 40 Hz range a Cubo 18 will
excell. Sounds to me Axiom is using the 15W930 or an OEM based on it. It's suited for that style cabinet and it's the only 18Sound 15" I know of that has a 33 mm Xmech. 18Sound of course being known for quoting power compression at -10, -3 and full power, like the specs on the Axiom site.
