Any thought and opinions on this for boxs?

sounds very simlair to tuff cab. Free flowing consistency that retains brush marks and maintains viscosity.

Looks like a plain Acrylic coloured paint for Art.
Nothing like Tuffcab I'd say.

Tuffcab is not 'just acrylic paint' - it's based on acrylic resin, but there is a lot more to it.

Tuffcab only falls off at its first gig if it's not left to dry properly.

Needs at least a week and a few layers to properly toughen.

The problems people have  with TuffCab are caused by various factors, mostly user error.

1. Storage - paint must be stored between 5 and 25 degrees - leave it to freeze over the winter in your garage and it's useless.

2. As mentioned - must be allowed time to CURE - curing is different from being touch dry. Same as gloss paint - leave it overnight and gloss paint is dry to the touch on the surface - BUT IT HASNT CURED. A week is a good safe period of time to leave it.

3. Preparation - ANY paint inappropriately used will fail. The surface must be clean and dry - if you paint over a dirty greasy speaker thats been covered in beer in a club, it wont have a proper surface to adhere to, and it WILL FALL OFF. The surface has to be cleaned first, and in some cases, lightly sanded to allow the paint to cure.

4. TUFFCAB WILL NOT BOND TO POLYURETHANE PAINTS. If you have a polyurethane coating and paint over with Tuff Cab, it will never bond properly and will gradually flake off. This is a bit like painting over gloss paint with emulsion - it just doesnt work, never has, never will.

I'll share a story I heard from a customer a couple of years ago. He had painted 6 scoops with Tuff Cab and being the sort who does things properly he had done the job when he had a week to allow them to fully cure. He let them dry overnight and then as the workshop space was required for another build he put them in the van ready for use.

Unfortunately he had left them touching each other and when time came for the next gig he had a block of 6 scoops all stuck together.

It took 4or 5 guys to lift the block of scoops out of the van and the only way to part them was to use a spade and lever them apart.

Tuff enuff for you??????
