so,

my uncle and i are upgrading our sound going from the old 400w fane 18xb's and 10 tonne amcrons LOL as well as other amps, speakers, etc.

from reading around on here im guessing we now need distros as we're going for 8 1500w a side amps just on bass and more amps for the mids and tops.

so my question is what's the easiest thing when using diffrent amps as sometimes we're in places with normal 13 amp plugs, some with 16, some with 32 (i think) and soon we will be using generators when outdoors which use 63 amps which im guessing have phases (which i have no clue what they are and if they will affect performance)

^^ these are needed correct?

sorry for all this, first time we'll have these and i need assurance on how to do this correctly

thanks in advance

Would you not rather a racked distro?

Each rack case having its own distro with the ability to dasiy chain through the cee-forms?

If it sounds like a gorilla is trying to escape, turn it down.

For amp racks these :-

are a cheap safe option for upto 4 amps, you do need to put C20 connectors on your amps http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/iec-connectors/7769125/ but they are neat and small units.

you can spend £250 a rack with out too much looking, but be aware, 32A in to 2x metalclad double sockets nicely screwed to a blank rack panel is a real option!!!!!

The above options offer no RCD so you need to sort that at supply, but a basic amp rack distro in real terms doesn't need it's own RCD, the hazard is more in the feeder cable getting crushed so a down stream unit it better than on rack!

is there anything similar i can get from a shop just in case someone gets those before i do?

by the way thats a 32 amp solution. what about 13 and 16?

just to inform each one of my racks will be for one stack: 2 bass amps. 2 low mid, 1 hi mid, 1 high if that helps

If you are interested in those Hp units, I have some, so don't panic bout getting out bid, they cost a mint new ( like £180 ) but go for £30 ish all the time on the 'bay.

My gut reaction would be buy 2 of those per rack and use a single 32A in, you can then have (legally) 13A > 16A and 16A > 32A adapters which makes things easy.

To get a 32A in (no point in less for a 6 amp rack) 6 out on powercon would be a good £200 ish, I am looking into a 32A in 6x powercon out 1U metered DB but TBH time at the min is not good and think 32A powercon + 3 C20 MCBs + 6Powercon + Meter + case is £100 before time/profit...

Decent amp rack distro is a pain, ideally you need a couple of 10A IECs too for LMS etc...

Ok & there's no lms only a preamp

"you can then have (legally) 13A > 16A and 16A > 32A adapters which makes things easy" - so it's ok to run the system on 13amp with the adapters?

sorry for all these q's, people most probably getting annoyed but this will be the 1st time using them Embarrassed

yeah, the rul is little plug big socket fine, big plug little socket, NO!

Theory is, if you use a 13A > 32A > 63A > 315 Camlok you may have a 315A distro, but the current is limited to a safe 13a, you build a 63A to 16A bodge lead you can now draw 63A trhough a 16A cable, which will end badly!!!!

Their are no exceptions to this rule (apart from 32A > 13A double socket which is a Uk only thing) any anyone spouting "but my distro has ...., so I can xyz" is cretin that should be culled to cleanse the gene pool!

315 Amp single pole, partly superceded by Powerlok, but in most ways a better system, used for Dimmer intakes and medium sized gensets...
