Nice pre... you set is similar to mine. I got the same digital delay but different model, same nose box a long with others and of course the barracuda but mine looks like a older model to yours

Your set sound good though

Good work!

Not sure if you discussed it earlier somewhere but how does your preamp differ from other preamps?Any special features?

Thanks for positive comments everyone.  Yeah, there are a few things that are a bit different.  Some of it visibly obvious, like 16 band EQ, additional parametric EQ, EQ/kills on send/returns, 1 to 5 way.  Some of it less obvious, like architecture, component selection, adjustable and separate HP and LP crossover points for each channel (not on board in pics), some of the fundamental circuit designs, etc.  I think there is only so much you can do to a pre before it becomes to complex to use on the fly.  That's particularly important to me as I play mostly 50s-early 70s.  The mix on tune from that era is all over the place depending on the studio, producer, etc and IMO you have to constantly work the pre and much harder to get a good sound than say if you were playing out later roots.

What got you into building preamps?

Always wanted to build myself one as well but still need the knowledge around it

I guess I get a lot of satisfaction building my own stuff and I like challenging myself.  I’ve never been taught electronics formally so I taught myself.  Ultimately I want to build everything in a sound myself.  I've done the boxes, valve and tranny amps, some rack gear, distros, now the pre.  Next on the list will be designing my own turntable.
