I had an enquiry from a company that wanted to update the appearance of their PS15s and lose the foam. They sent a grill to copy, but then, when I sent a sample they said it was too small (it was actually 3mm bigger than the original.

Anyway they then sent an empty cab for me to do as I wished. I gotta be honest I know PS15s are very well respected but it was the worst grill I've ever seen. It was only held on by 7 (not particularly strong) magnetic fittings, and the locating lugs meant that the top/bottom folds were only about 10mm, so didn't offer any support. The grill flexed as though it was plastic. Plus without the foam the grill didn't even cover the bass port. Also overall height left a gap of about 5mm at the top and bottom.

First mod was to make the grill wider by 20mm and increase height to just leave 1.5mm top and bottom.

Then I replaced 4 of the mag fittings with stand-offs so the grill could be securely fixed

Finally sincence the  fixing screws made the locating lugs redundant I took them out to allow a full depth fold top and bottom. Much better support and stiffens the grill no end.

By the way I'm not touting for business, I'm retired now and intended to only do a couple of afternoons a week, but that just 'aint workin out.

I just thought it might be of interest.

Was the company happy with your modification I do like the returns on the grill. What's your view on the grill plus flat(Welded) metal surround?

I discussed all the changes with them beforehand and they agreed with everything. They've seen the pics but grills are still being powder coated.

Not sure what you mean on the welded surround.

Pic received. They will certainly fulfill the purpose of a grill in that it protects the driver, but I don't really like the appearance. Having said that it's better than the crappy round grills held on with clamps.

I'm sure there's far more to it than measure, cut, bend and paint, which is one reason mine look nothing like yours
