We're having a bit if a debate at the moment. Which do you think is the better way to stack 12 punishers. I think that two blocks of six next to each other and he think 6 in a line, with their mouths on the floor, with the other six on top with their mouths at the top. Any thoughts please

For sheer output it won't make a lot of difference because sound wavelengths are long enough at the frequencies in question that the boxes will couple regardless how that are stacked.
But you have enough boxes to effect some pattern control(by accident or on purpose) with certain arrangements, so for example if you put them all in a straight line on the floor the resulting pattern would narrow side to side and extend further front to back.

Whichever way round makes them the right height for your mid-tops!

Only correct answer.
2 wide 3 high is perfect height and extremely brutal if powered correctly.
A while ago i was pleasantly surprised by 6 punishers per side powered of k3. They drop pretty low in such stacks and are extremely precise without honking.
Best regards,
Teun.

No more juice than a K8 though the drivers cook VERY easily in that sealed chamber. I do sort of miss having 24 of them mind.

I was waiting for you toasty. Cheers. Thought that was the only way to stack them. Is it true that having two stacks of six next to each other creates a massive db hike? We'll have 24 soon. Run off mc2 e45s. Can you really hit 150db with 24?

24 punishers in one stack will hit 112dB sensitivity and will probably have some directivity gain depending on how you stack them.  give them 24KW and thats over 155dB @1m cont. on paper without factoring power compression, so yeah 150dB is doable, it will be so loud it will make your teeth fall out though...

2 stacks of 6 will give you 5-6dB more over 1 stack of 6.

So +3dB for double and a further 2-3 due to coupling?

Yep,  you might not gain quite that much as it may be close to max sensitivity with 6- 12 cabinets, especially in the upper pass band.
