Hi everyone.

I am in need of a small mixer, 4 mic inputs, 2 stereo and an effects section would be great but not a must. Just for small jobs so no need taking my huge soundcraft all the time. Anyone has any recommendations.

Take a look at Yamaha MG or A&H ZED range.

This Soundcraft EFX8 is on ebay at the moment:

I have an EFX8 & EFX12 and find them ideal for small setups e.g. acoustic sets in bars/pubs.
Built in FX is very handy.

Thanks guys.

After doing some research I've narrowed it down to two.the zed 60 10fx and sound craft signature 10. Any thoughts on which I should go for.

The Zed is more 'consumer' than the Soundcraft.
Short faders too from memory.

I wasn't sure if you wanted to buy new or used - have to agree with Dylan that the Signature series is definitely worth a look.

I'd rather have no desk than use a Zed.

Not an unfair comment.

My advice, by an X-Air, the days of lumping around analogue desks and racks are SO gone!!!!

Signature 10 it is then. Is the zed really that bad?

The Zen has the same prob as the signature, no EQ.

For years I have wished someone would make a decent small desk, like 8 channels of Soundcraft Series 4 In with 4 auxes, but they don't they all have an EQ that would be more use on a Karaoke machine.

From Memory the signature series doesn't even have insert points, with renders it completely useless for even a single mic live job.

The Behringer XR12 is the same money with a decent feature set, I'd join this century and get one of those...

Thanks guys for the feedback. I came across a Yamaha MG12/4fx mixer in pristine condition for a good price. What are your opinions on this mixer?
